Why Your Ductless System is Leaking Water in England, AR
Sometimes, homeowners in England, AR, may find their ductless mini-split systems leaking water. Your ability to stay comfortable this fall may rest on your ability to successfully resolve that problem. Here are a few things that may cause water to drip from your ductless system:
Dirty Filter in Your Ductless System
Without adequate airflow, your ductless system may encounter various problems. Dirty air filters are the most common impediments to airflow that your mini-split can face.
Each indoor air handler units in a multi-zone ductless HVAC system has its own filter. Naturally, as time goes on, dirt will accumulate on these filters and may threaten to block airflow. Two main consequences may follow from this.
One is that the system may not be able to expel much of the heat that it generates in the course of its operations, causing its interior temperature to rise and condensate to form. The other is that air won’t be able to pass over the system’s coils, causing them to freeze. Later, after the system defrosts the ice on the coils, water will drip out.
Luckily, you can keep your mini-split system’s filters clean without professional help. We recommend cleaning them once every two weeks.
Broken Condensate Drain Pan
Ductless mini-splits have a system for removing unwanted condensate, part of which involves directing it into a specific pan. However, if anything damages that pan, the water moving into it may spill over onto your floor. HVAC service techs can repair or replace your pan during maintenance services.
Mini-Split Has an Obstructed Drain Line
Finally, there may be a blockage in your drain line. After gathering in the drain pan, water should pass into the drain line and leave your home, moving into the sewer. Obstructions can stop this from happening and cause the water in your pan to overflow instead.
Even a tiny leak may cause lasting and significant damage to your ductless HVAC system. If you live around England, AR, take immediate action by calling Pine Bluff Heating & Air and asking for our ductless mini-split services.
